the albany oak prairie & turtle habitat project
This 8.5-acre enhancement project is a vibrant partnership with the City of Albany designed to blend ecological restoration with community enjoyment. Our mission is to raise awareness for Oregon’s rare oak prairie landscapes and protect our two native turtle species: the Western Pond Turtle and the Western Painted Turtle.
restoring a rare landscape
Our restoration plan focuses on returning the land to its natural roots by planting scattered Oregon White Oaks and a diverse mix of native grasses and wildflowers (forbs). Once established, this drought-tolerant habitat will provide a vital sanctuary for declining grassland birds, essential pollinating insects, and local reptiles.
