About the Programs

For the past several years, CWC has coordinated elementary outdoor school, where students are given the opportunity to apply their classroom learning a bit further in field study exercises involving science, arts, recreation and leadership.  Through our experience, CWC has developed resources to help enable schools without outdoor school programs to pursue the resources, curriculum, and support needed to undertake a community-based outdoor school experience.

Our Outdoor School Program is offered to local schools and educators, and has historically followed a summer camp structure. During the last eight weeks of the school year, elementary and middle-school students attended a camp for 3 nights, 4 days, experiencing all the fun and excitement of summer camp with the added elements of our environmental curriculum.  Educators, high school leaders, and volunteers lead learning stations for soils, animals, plants, and water quality which provides a hands-on, interactive, stimulating and memorable experience for all involved.

For the current remote learning situation, we have adapted our programming to continue to reach students where they are, while continuing to encourage the safe exploration of the environment. There has never been a greater need than now for these programs!
